Gareth’s 1972 Clubman GT
This Mini Clubman 1275 GT was a genuine ‘Barn Find’ being found stored in a barn on a Denbighshire Farm in 2018. It had survived remarkably well and was totally original, however it was quite apparent that it would need to be stripped down and fully restored.
Gareth set to work on stripping down the Mini as he wanted to be part of its restoration process. Initially, he tasked the bodywork to a body shop in the North Wales area but unfortunately, they made quite a mess of the job, ruining most of the new Heritage panels that had been supplied to them by Gareth. Upon having the body shell removed from the said body shop Gareth contacted us after we had been recommended to him by another Mini specialist and we took on the project for him.

STRIP DOWN VEHICLE
We set to work removing the poorly fitted panels and some other original panels that were also in need of replacement. The bodyshell was then fully stripped and coated in zinc epoxy primer before work commenced on fitting the new panels to completion.
BODY WORK & PAINTING
We overhauled the subframes and some aspects of the engine and transmission which had previously been overhauled by a local engineer to Gareth.
Meanwhile, Gareth was busy beavering away at home, restoring many of the little parts that make up the Mini but for me, his greatest achievement was to completely clean and restore the original interior which I am sure by looking at the photos, you will agree is absolutely stunning!
MECHANICAL WORK & REBUILD
PROJECT COMPLETION
The Mini was refinished in its original Green Mallard colour scheme with gold 1275GT decals and stripes applied. The lime flower interior was refitted as were the engine and subframes, in all making for one of the nicest looking 1275GT cars we have ever seen!
Gareth has since attended many shows and road runs and has come away with quite a few show winning awards!
